I'm running in my 40 years late, after looking long and hard to put a picture in New York during a family vacation, a picture which I did not know how I looked.
From the mold. Tired. Overweight. Neglected. Dark circles under the eyes. No juice. And that big belly, I do not notice that before ... hmmm ...
Obviously diet and exercise was the only way out. But the diet is not something I had never had much success. So that left me the only other possibilityavailable - by train.
But what kind of exercise? I felt too old for a lot of options and almost all team sports. I had too much free time.
It was something I could do to get started immediately, without preparation or longer to go around and then let me return to my daily life with the same ease.
When I meditate on the question of how it happened and as usual divine appointment in situations like this happen to me eyesfall on this very old men, simple in his 70s and maybe even more, running to my window with a bombastic, but comfortable pace!
I pressed my nose against the glass to take a second look, just to make sure that I do not have hallucinations or anything.
No, it was the white-haired man slowly but surely, inch its way up the street where I lived, looking smart in their shirts and great looking sweatpants and sneakers to match.
I was embarrassed in a sense. If this guy couldperformed in a very advanced age, he did what I must apologize for the self-pity and inaction?
So, that evening I did what I always do before a new project - I hit the library.
While reading the racks of books and magazines that I found what I needed. The latest issue of Runners World magazine, which had a 10-week program for beginners to start. I have yet to arrive on newsstands before - was built around a "walk of 2Minutes and then walk for 2 minutes for a total of 10 minutes "type of idea.
Of course I walk and run in 2 minute intervals, I bought the magazine right there on the spot.
While driving home I almost ran a red light, because in my head I was already out and run like a cheetah and the beautiful hills and mountains outside and all the green land of God Boy, I was ready for fame.
The next morning, with my old plastic watch attached to my right wrist andwear my shorts, almost brand new running and jogging shoes, I was outside my house to join feel very nervous and excited like a kid on a new game.
The first 100 meters I thought it would be good to me in my tracks with an excruciating pain that stabbed me stopped on the side. And that was the end of my first "run". I came home holding my hand and swearing to myself, or my famous "always a runner" of the project.
It was for mereally? I should be able to run, each for 2 minutes just for the love of God?
The next morning I felt better when I saw the same old man cruising past my house, this time even more beautiful in a jogging suit.
In 10 minutes I was back, making it past the club mark of 100 meters and in view of the known side effects at about 200 meters. But I knew I was doing. Finally, yes, I was the exercise, a murderess side at a time.
Let us fast forward toA year later ...
My experiments were always about the brand hours 30 minutes and was running like 3 or sometimes 4 times a week. I felt great, lost a few pounds (but not much), but overall I really feel the way they commissioned someone throws a switch in a dark room and switched on the light. The sense of renewal has been truly remarkable. The fact that my wife has noticed that I looked better and how she was inspired by my new routine made the rewards evensweet.
Since then, the performance was actually a drug for me. Now I can run for over an hour at a slow pace and easy to do comfortably, four or five miles in a row. If I feel rested and more energized, like maybe once every two weeks, I have some post-race combine sit ups and crunches bicycle kick for some extra air conditioning.
In recent years I myself am in a 5K and 10K races with times mediocre nothing to write home about that part (33 "and 72" means).But I feel calm, strong and about 20 pounds lighter. I know you probably go to 20 pounds, but is a process. You must handle up and down process that I learned.
Some days I feel tired and ragged, and I learned even on days like this force, because thank God, my body does not care for my ego.
I learned to respect my limits and do not hurt me. So I've never been injured so far, knock on wood.
From this magical and rare days when I feel that thisEnergy inexplicable roar as if from nowhere in the third mile 5 miles of a path, I learned to let it rip downhill and opened as a child while praying inside and keep my knee and I would not be disappointed for a day.
I learned to appreciate the beauty of the race and all riders young and old, fast and slow. I have the right shape to work efficiently and how to do it not to be arrogant when I saw a follower learned with bad form, and how not to be sad when the rotor withI could easily form bad-waver in their dust.
I know what a privilege and a blessing to be able to perform. I realize being a quasi-religious veneration. I am truly grateful. I remember all those who can not be executed, even if he wanted to for one reason or another, and I'll send all the silent prayers of my heart. I hope that will be accepted.
